In-frame engine repairs are a bit easier than an out of frame because in- frame is a motor rebuilt within the frame ( still attached ). An out of frame repair is when a motor is literally pulled out of the frame and rebuilt outside the truck. There’s a bit more labor involved in a out of frame rebuild/repair, but it gives the opportunity to repair motor mounts and other parts inaccessible in an in-frame repair.

DOT inspections or your federal annual inspections are required every year. We can handle all your DOT inspections on both trucks and trailers. We will inspect your trucks and give you estimates for anything we find out of compliance.  And then we’ll get your repairs done faster than any other local shop.

DOT Inspections Available

Most commercial vehicles (including trucks, buses, trailers, semi trailers and tow or converter dollies), which use public highways to transport passengers or goods are required to have an annual commercial vehicle safety inspection when:

  • The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle or Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of the vehicle exceeds 10,000 pounds; or
  • The vehicle is designed to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver; or
  • The vehicle is used in the transportation of hazardous materials which require placarding.

In general, passing your truck inspection has a lot to do with keeping your truck in good condition. It may seem obvious, but as long as everything is safe and operational, you are probably in good shape. Periodically, check the seat belts, brake systems, coupling devices, exhaust systems, frames, fuel systems, lighting devices, steering mechanisms, suspension, tires, wheels, rims and hubs, windshield wipers, emergency exits, electrical cables, etc.
